GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP TO MAKE AVAILABLE 120 MILLION AFFORDABLE, QUALITY COVID-19 RAPID TESTS FOR LOW AND MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRIES
A set of agreements to make available, for low and middle-income countries, affordable, high-quality COVID-19 antigen rapid tests were today announced by the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator. Organizations involved in the milestone agreement include the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), the Global Fund, Unitaid, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

GLOBAL CORPORATIONS AGREE TO ADOPT SET OF KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS TO MEASURE AND IMPROVE DIVERSITY:  Fifty-six companies and organizations, including Accenture, Bank of America, Chevron, Deloitte, EY, Google, KPMG LLP, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, PwC, Uber, and Visa, have joined the groundbreaking Gender and Diversity KPI Alliance (GDKA) to support the adoption and use of a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure gender and gender diversity in their companies and organizations.

ALLWORLD PROJECT MANAGEMENT RECEIVES LARGEST MINORITY FIRM CONTRACT EVER FROM CITY OF MEMPHIS:  An established Memphis-based minority firm has made history. Allworld Project Management (AWPM) – an engineering firm founded in 2010 – was recently awarded a four-year, $19 million contract by the City of Memphis to head up its stormwater program.

SUMMIT BIOSCIENCES TO INVEST $19M TO EXPAND OPERATIONS; CREATE 78 FT JOBS IN LEXINGTON:  Summit Biosciences Inc., a Lexington-based pharmaceutical company focused on nasal spray medicines, is expanding its operation at the University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Campus with a more than $19 million investment expected to create up to 78 full-time jobs.

KROGER CO. EVALUATING POTENTIAL $24 MILLION LOUISVILLE EXPANSION:  

A major grocery chain with a large Louisville presence is considering an additional expansion in the city.  Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. could spend up to $24 million on the relocation and expansion of its Jefferson County pharmacy prescription central filing service area in Louisville, new state documents show.

WEST VIRGINIA AND MASSACHUSETTS WOMAN-OWNED FIRMS TAKE TOP HONORS IN FEDERAL CONTRACTING: The U.S. Small Business Administration

announced two women-owned firms will receive awards honoring their work in federal contracting.  
  • Action Facilities Management, Inc.(AFM), an 8(a)-certified commercial facilities management firm specializing in infrastructure and security support services from Morgantown, West Virginia;  and
  • Specialty Materials Inc. (SMI), a firm specializing in composite fiber and prepreg products that support the aerospace industry from Lowell, Massachusetts, has been named the National Subcontractor of the Year.

WEST VIRGINIA AMERICAN WATER AND PAGE-KINCAID PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT REACH AGREEMENT ON SYSTEM ACQUISITION: West Virginia American Water and Page-Kincaid Public Service District have reached an agreement that will allow West Virginia American Water to purchase the community’s water system and provide safe, reliable service to its customers.
