***CORONAVIRUS UPDATES – POTENTIAL VACCINE TO ENTER PHASE 2/3 IN GLOBAL TRIALS: Over 16.3 million people across the globe have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new respiratory virus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. The actual numbers are believed to be much higher due to testing shortages, many unreported cases and suspicions that some governments are hiding or downplaying the scope of their nations’ outbreaks.

***’IN THIS TOGETHER’ CAMPAIGN AIMS TO INVEST $1 BILLION IN MINORITY BUSINESSES IMPACTED BY COVID:  More than 30 blue-chip companies-including the likes of Capital One, ExxonMobile, Nissan North American Inc., and Procter & Gamble Co.-have pledged to support Black businesses and the Black Lives Matter movement. 

The companies will provide funding as partakers “In This Together Campaign,” a new drive by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) to help its certified minority firms and other minority businesses overcome the dire blows of COVID-19.

***WELLS FARGO LAUNCHES $400 MILLION SMALL BUSINESS RECOVERY EFFORT:  Following an April 2020 industry-leading commitment to donate all gross processing fees from the Paycheck Protection Program, Wells Fargo unveiled today the details of an approximately $400 million effort to help small businesses impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic keep their doors open, retain employees, and rebuild.

***CLEARINGHOUSE CDFI HELPS CREATE NEW PRIVATE EQUITY FUND TO CONCENTRATE ON THE GROWTH AND GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS OF MINORITY BUSINESSES: The Minority Wealth Commission-a bi-partisan National Commission of diverse leaders representing a cross section of capital funding, procurement/contracting, economic development, and corporate/nonprofit leadership focused on minority businesses-announced today the launch of the FVLCRUM Fund. The fund, with initial capital commitments of over $50 million, will raise a total of $250,000,000 to invest as a combination of equity and debt capital into proven, high-growth enterprises operated by people of color.

***AMAZON PLANS TO CREATE 1,000 NEW JOBS IN MOUNT JULIET: Amazon plans on building a new fulfillment center in Tennessee that could bring 1,000 new jobs to Wilson County.  The 855,000-square-foot facility will be located in Mount Juliet, and is

expected to launch in late 2021, Gov. Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced Friday afternoon.
