SMALL BUSINESSES EMBRACE DIGITAL TOOLS TO SURVIVE IN A TOUCHLESS MARKETPLACE AMID COVID-19: Rebecca Davis stood

the owner of two boutique clothing stores on Franklin’s Main Street. As the COVID-19 response restricted in-person interactions, Davis, among many small retail businesses, pivoted her stores to a virtual platform, building websites and filling orders curbside.

NISSAN TO BEGIN PHASED RESTART OF U.S. MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS: Nissan announced Thursday that they will carry out a phased restart of its U.S. manufacturing operations starting in early June. The company’s vehicle assembly plant in Canton, Miss. and powertrain plant in Decherd, Tenn. plan to resume production on June 1, followed by its Smyrna, Tenn. vehicle assembly plant on June 8.

Airports Council International (ACI) World ranked SDF No. 4 worldwide and No. 2 in North America for busiest cargo airports in 2019 according to their preliminary World Airport Traffic Report that was recently released.

BARDSTOWN BOURBON CO. BREAKS GROUND ON NEW BOTTLING FACILITY: The Bardstown Bourbon Company recently broke ground on its new bottling facility, adjacent to the distillery, and recently opened a visitors center. The 47,000 s.f. development will enable the team to bottle hundreds of thousands of cases of distilled spirits per year and is projected to generate 25 new jobs upon its completion in spring 2021.

TAKE5 TO GIVE 5 WEST VIRGINIA GIVING DAY COVID-19 STATEWIDE MATCHING FUND HITS $250K: Philanthropy WestVirginia’s Take 5 to Give 5 matching fund campaign for COVID-19 relief gains new sponsors, with a new total of $250,000 for the statewide match fund. The six Matching Fund Sponsors for Take 5 to Give 5 are Toyota, United Bank, Highmark Foundation, Bernard McDonough Foundation, West Virginia American Water, and an anonymous donor, who have pledged to match funds up to $0.50 for every $1 donated to the participating relief funds across the state.
