TENNESSEE

SPIRIT AIRLINES MOVING OPERATIONS TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY: Spirit Airlines and Tennessee officials say the low-cost carrier is moving its operations control center from Florida to the Nashville area.

Officials said Thursday that the project to move the operations center from Miramar, Florida, to Williamson County, Tennessee, represents an investment of $11.3 million and will bring 345 jobs to Tennessee over the next five years.

USDA INVESTS $9 MILLION IN BROADBAND FOR RURAL TENNESSEE COMMUNITIES:  Thursday, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture has invested $9 million in four, high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 3,744 rural households, 31 businesses, 41 farms and a critical community facility in Tennessee. This is one of many funding announcements in the first round of USDA’s ReConnect Pilot Program investments.

FORTUNE 300 COMPANY BREAKS GROUND ON $147.6M BOWLING GREEN PLANT:  In breaking ground Friday for a beverage-can manufacturing facility by Crown Holdings Inc. in Warren County, Gov. Andy Beshear welcomed the company and its plans to create 126 well-paying jobs for Kentucky residents.

KENTUCKY NATION’S LEADING WHISKEY EXPORTER COMMONWEALTH CONTINUES OVERALL EXPORT GROWTH WITH $33.1 BILLION:
As Kentucky’s signature bourbon industry continues to boom, Gov. Andy Beshear announced the commonwealth is the nation’s leading exporter of whiskey, which includes bourbon and rye, according to 2019 export reports.

WEST VIRGINIA LOOKS AHEAD TO NEW USES FOR CARBON:    West Virginia’s coal industry is performing better than it did during its lowest point in generations in 2015 and 2016. But with domestic competition from natural gas and the volatile nature of foreign markets, experts say coal’s future is unpredictable.
