NASHVILLE BANK BUYS KENTUCKY LENDER IN $51.9M DEAL: 

FirstBank is buying its way into Kentucky. The Nashville-based lender
announced its acquisition of FNB Financial Corp., the parent company of Farmers National Bank of Scottsville. The deal gives the $6 billion bank its first presence in two Kentucky markets: Bowling Green and Scottsville, which are both roughly an hour north of Nashville.

REPORT RANKS NASHVILLE IN NATION’S TOP FIVE: Nashville’s real

estate sector has enjoyed a major hot streak since the Great Recession.
And a national publication continues to recognize the heat.  The Urban Land
Institute (ULI) and PwC released Thursday their Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2020, with the annual overview ranking Nashville No. 3 nationally, up from No. 5 last year.

UPS ANTICIPATES INVESTING $750 MILLION, ADDING 1,000 JOBS TO LOUISVILLE AREA: UPS is planning a series of construction projects around their Louisville-based Worldport that could create up to 1,000 jobs, the shipping giant announced Thursday. The investment of up to $750 million is

being undertaken to meet increasing global demand and a rapidly increasing volume of next-day air shipping traffic.

CORNING PLANT IN KENTUCKY GETS $250M TO MAKE GLASS FOR APPLE DEVISES: Apple deepened its ties with a Kentucky manufacturing plant by awarding $250 million to support Corning Inc.’s continued work to develop glass for iPhones and other devices. The award builds on the

$200 million that Corning received from Apple’s Advanced Manufacturing Fund in 2017, the tech giant said.

WEST VIRGINIA

HUNGARY WANTS TO DO BUSINESS IN WEST VIRGINIA: 
The Foreign Minister of Hungary was at the West Virginia State Capitol with Governor Jim Justice to sign a “Memorandum of Understanding” between the two governments. Hungary is looking to partner with the Mountain State with jobs in the petrochemical and high-technology fields.

INTUIT LAUNCHES PROSPERITY HUB IN WEST VIRGINIA: The makers of TurboTax and QuickBooks are bringing 200 to 500 jobs to West Virginia.

The Mountain View, California-based information technology company produces the consumer tax preparation application, the accounting program and other products.
