TENNESSEE BUSINESS FILINGS INCREASE 10 PERCENT: Tennessee‘s secretary of state says new business filings increased by more than 10 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the previous year.

ELECTROLUX TO SHUT MEMPHIS PLANT, KEEPING TENNESSEE PRESENCE:  Swedish appliance maker Electrolux said Thursday it plans to stop production within two years at its factory in Memphis, Tennessee, while investing $250 million in a separate facility in the state.

UNITED BANK RECOGNIZED FOR COMMUNITY LENDING:  A West Virginia-based bank has received an “Outstanding” rating from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in its most recent evaluation of Community Reinvestment Act performance, the highest possible rating of how well a financial institution meets the credit needs of its communities.
