FASTEST GROWING LARGE METRO ECONOMIES OF 2017 ARE NASHVILLE, RIVERSIDE AND JACKSONVILLE; SLOWEST ARE NEW ORLEANS, ROCHESTER, AND BUFFALO:
Recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics illuminates which large metros have the fastest growing economies. Growth is measured by the percentage change in employment between the annual average of 2016 and 2017. MTD CREATING 200 JOBS IN TENNESSEE: MTD Consumer Group Inc. will invest $10 million in its Martin, TN operations and expects to create 200 jobs over the next five years. MTD’s $20 million expansion in 2014 created a foundation for future growth. SOURCE:  CLICK HERE

   

KENTUCKY

ALPHA INC. PLANS $6.9M EXPANSION IN BOWLING GREEN; 24 NEW JOBS:  Austrian-based plastic packaging company Alpla Inc. announced plans to expand their Bowling Green operations. SOUTH KOREAN AUTO PARTS MAKER BREAKS GROUND:  A South Korean auto parts maker has broken ground on a new $50 million plant in

western Kentucky. The plant in Murray would provide 120 jobs. Company leaders with South Korea’s DAE-IL Corp. expect the 295,000-square foot

WEST VIRGINIA

$91 MILLION BOND HEADED TO MARKET FOR ROAD PROJECTS: State

Transportation Secretary Tom Smith said West Virginia received a favorable interest rate – 3.03 percent – on a new bond to improve and repair the state’s infrastructure.  SOURCE:  CLICK HERE 

NATIONAL ENERGY TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY (NETL) AWARDS $364 MILLION ENGINEERING CONTRACT TO LEIDOS: With about 32,000 employees worldwide, Leidos has two office locations in Monongalia County and one in Marion County, WV.
